"Err... just business." Codam muttered, evading the question once more. No he was in his underwear, now came the tricky bit.
"By the promise of rebirth and salvation, bless this soul with thy guarding hand... Protection!" He said the incantation and flowed his magic into place around his body. Controlling the Protect spell, Codam laid it upon his skin and push out, expelling dirt and sweat from his skin. For the briefest of moments, a Codam-shaped aura of dirt hung suspended on his layer of magic before falling to the ground in a damp mist. Reaching into his pack, Codam grabbed out some dried lavender and rubbed it into his skin, making sure to spend extra time on his armpits, before plunging it into his underwear and giving his groin a good old scrub.
"All done!" He smiled cheerily and threw the used lavender away. Reaching down to his new things, Codam began getting redressed while applying the extra armour that he had bought. "Sleep, eh?"
Codam looked around. He'd have to sleep outside, but he'd already been doing that the last few days. "How about there?" He pointed to a grassy spot between two buildings. "Should be fine for a while, anyway."

If I howl a song for you, would you cry a tear for me?

Bianh pointedly turned away when Codam started rubbing lavender over his body. She dug the heel of her boot into the ground, grinding clumps of dirt into a fine powder. She studied the grassy area that Codam had indicated and was pleased to see a tree nearly clinging to the side of one of the buildings.
She gave him a smirk. "You can have your grass, Cody. The tree is mine."
Bianh would never take the ground if there was the chance that she could sleep on the thick branch of a sturdy tree. She liked being high above the ground, not having the problem with heights that afflicted many people.
She gave a stretch, raising her arms high above her head and leaning her neck back until she felt it crack. "So, business, huh?" she dug in again, removing her cloak from around her shoulders, revealing her long, thick-furred tail, as she folded the haphazardly-colored cloak.
"What's a baker got to do with a group of inhuman creatures on your way to Prasen?" She raised a slender eyebrow at him. "Surely, you can't be that good of a baker. I haven't seen you cook anything since I've met you. So what's the deal? And the truth now, Cody."

"Let's just say I'm the evening entertainment and leave it at that, hmm?" Codam dodged again, silently pleading that this subhuman stranger would stop asking him questions and just let him rest.
Making his way to the grassy area, Codam sat with his back to the wall and let out a long low breath of exhaustion. He quickly kissed his knuckle and glanced upwards, offering a quiet prayer to Parim and snuggled into his cloak. The chainmail felt a little weird on his skin, but not uncomfortable enough to prevent him from sleeping.
Calmly, he closed his eyes and focused on forcing the fatigue from his body. As a healer he had some skill in rejuvenation, making sleep double its effects on his body and that was needed more now than ever. Hoping that his peculiar dog-shaped shadow would just leave him to rest, Codam relaxed his shoulders and let the oncoming sleep do it work.

"Hmmm..."
Bianh did not like being lied to. Usually when someone did that to her, she became as violent as was necessary to garner the information she required from them, but she had no real desire to hurt Codam.
"You have to be the weirdest person I have ever met," she acknowledged, as he lay down on the grass. After all, most people who fear you don't then hang around you just for the hell of it. Granted, she had no intention of leaving him alone, but it was apparent that he wasn't as weak as he appeared and probably could have easily gotten rid of her if he had chosen to do so. On top of that, he travelled with a group of warriors who she would likely not have been able to thwart, even through manipulation.
Releasing a sigh, she removed her black and orange gloves, revealing pale, slender fingers ending in long, sharp claws. She flexed the talons, enjoying the feel of the air on her fingers. The silver ring that encircled her middle finger at its base on each hand was sewn tightly to her sleeve, holding her uniform arms down so the flesh was never unduly exposed. It was a good thing, as she often needed her claws, but would not have liked it if she had to display them all of the time, or else suffer through gloves that were sewn in connection with her uniform.
Taking a soft run at the tree, Bianh leapt forward, sinking her claws into the hefty bark for a strong handhold, digging her boots against the massive beast in order to push herself up. She clawed her way up to the sturdy branch, a good five and half feet off of the ground, and then settled into a comfortable position; her back leaned against the bark of the tree as she balanced perfectly upon the branch, her left leg laying straight out in front of her, following the course of her natural bed, as her right leg and tail hung over the side.
Gripping her staff, she studied the crystal embedded within its depths. The presence of the crystal was a sacrifice that her ancient inanimate companion had made in order to save her life; it had protected her from that brilliant flash of light, but how light could be black made no sense to Bianh.
She fingered the crystal, and she felt that familiar tingling sensation deep within her, one that came with feelings of bondage and family - something she hadn't felt since she watched... no, she didn't want to think about that now.
She tried futilely to pull the crystal out of the confines of her staff, but it was as though the hickory had grown around it, clutching it in an embrace as effective as the clutches of death. Sighing in temporary defeat, Bianh twirled the staff between her fingers, her curious violet eyes never leaving the crystal.
"I'm not one to have animosity against mystery," Bianh commented, her voice containing a tinge of annoyance, "but this is getting ridiculous. And the catalyst," she murmured in agitation, "was that damn light." Her eyes narrowed. "A black light..."

Codam's ears pricked up.
*But I wanted to rest!*
"Light?" Codam's eyes snapped open. This was weird. Surely not. Well, it was too important to take the risk. Even so, he didn't want to be the one to deal with this. One of the lovely ladies would surely know how to deal with this better than him.
"Look, Bjorn, I think we should actually go to the inn. Yeah. It's not as comfortable out here as I thought." Codam grabbed up his staff and waved it at Biahn. "Let's go back in, yeah?"
He didn't wait for an answer before he started walking - dogs always followed someone else.
